FLAMENKA NY is an ongoing project to capture images of contemporary female flamenco artists who live, perform or teach in New York City.
These dancers illuminate the traditions of Flamenco. FLAMENKA NY are the faces of contemporary flamenco in New York City.
My goal for this project is to preserve their passion for self-expression through this collection of portraits. This exhibit will hopefully serve
to increase the exposure of the evolving New York flamenco community to others. - Angelica Escoto, photographer
Angelica Escoto is a New York City-based artist who photographs her love for flamenco culture, dance and music.
For the past several years she has followed Flamencos in New York and Spain.
My passion for flamenco has inspired me to follow this art form through my photography. The creation of FLAMENKA NY began
after being inspired by the flamenco community in Sevilla, Spain. Back in New York, I invited each of these female artists into a studio
