MoLI opens with a Kate O’Brien Exhibition

  • The new Museum of Literature in Ireland (MoLI) opened its doors to the public on Friday 20th September with a special preview to coincide with the Dublin Culture Night festival.

24SEP19.- Located in Dublin city centre, overlooking the popular Stephen’s Green, MoLI is housed in the former buildings of University College Dublin (UCD) , where (under the name National Catholic University) it was established by John Henry Newman in 1854, to offer university education to Catholic pupils. Catholics were welcomed at Trinity College Dublin –a protestant institution—, but were barred from attending by the catholic hierarchy. MoLI is a joint development of UCD and the Office of Public Works (OPW).

19SEP19 – MÁLAGA.- En la fachada principal de la Galería de Arte de Kilcock, en el condado de Kildare, vecino del de Dublín, hay una placa que recuerda que el artista irlandés George Campbell, R. H. A., inauguró oficialmente ese hermoso espacio expositivo con una muestra de su pintura, allá por 1978, solo un año antes de su fallecimiento.

07SEP19 – MÁLAGA.- One of the most notable rebellions of the time was by General Jose Maria de Torrijos. He had spent time in London and drew support from liberals like Tennyson and Carlysle and John Sterling whose Irish cousin Lieutenant Robert Boyd had a 4,000 pound inheritance and funded a ship which was seized by British authorities on request of Spanish envoy in London. Sterling withdrew after suddenly becoming engaged.
