'Portrait of Spain: Masterpieces from the Prado' will be a magnificent survey of the development of painting in Spain over the course of four centuries, and the first ever collection of work from Madrid’s Museo Nacional del Prado to visit Australia.
Curated by Javier Portús Pérez, Head of the Department of Spanish Painting (up to 1700), Museo Nacional del Prado, 'Portrait of Spain' highlights the internal and external factors that influenced the evolution of Spanish painting through three main periods. The exhibition includes masterpieces of renowned painters who worked in the Spanish Royal Court including El Greco, Velázquez, Ribera, Goya and Rubens.
