RADIUS, the University Times

· Coming up over the next week

domingo 20 de mayo de 2018, 20:41h

21MAY18.- Ruin your day.- Summer might be fast approaching, but DU Players isn't winding down. The society has a festival – Rúin – that promises secrets and stories. Expect a sleepy campus to be transformed into an open-air theatre and art installation.

To be or not to be

In case you missed it, Ruth Negga is set to play everyone's favourite Danish misfit prince in September. Tickets are already on sale for Hamlet at the Gate, so grab one before it sells out.

Brick by Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick season comes to the Light House. The cinema is celebrating the release of new Kubrick documentary Filmworker with screenings of some classic films.

Evening plans

Never miss a beat

Beatyard is back at the Bernard Shaw. Like cherry blossom in Trinity and cans at the canal, this is a real sign of summer's return.

Tours of Trinity

College might be cracking down on rogue tourists, but you can still enjoy campus before you head off for the summer. Wait until nightfall and take a stroll around Trinity at dusk – you might be surprised what hidden treasures you unearth.

This weekend...

Cafe cultured?

The good weather has got us musing about our favourite spots to enjoy the sun with a coffee and a good book. Check out our guide to the best outdoor cafe spots in Dublin.

The Porterhouse

The Porterhouse Central is just 100m from Trinity and offers regular student specials. With a football table, dart board, board games, live music Mondays, DJ Thursday to Saturday, daily food specials and plenty of screens there’s always something to keep your eyes, mouth and hands occupied. Talking points

Culture change

A community has come together. Across Dublin and Ireland, artists, musicians and comedians have made the message clear: repeal the eighth amendment. Clubs and festivals have shown their support. When the New York Times wrote this week that fashion was choosing a side in the referendum, it could have said the same about any of Ireland's creative scene more generally. Even the walls across the city have come out to support repeal. From jumpers to jamborees, our artists have shown which side they're on. Now, on May 25th, the country will have that chance too.

Catching our eye

Long in the tooth

Longitude added new names to the festival's line-up, including Kojaque, Soulé and Mango X Mathman, just a day after announcing it supported a "yes" vote in the referendum.
