Situada en la margen derecha del estuario del río Limia y bañada por el Atlántico, nos encontramos esta ciudad llena de encanto y tradición y uno de los más importantes puertos de la pesca del bacalao. Calles limpias, bien estructuradas y gentes hospitalarias son algunas de sus características más interesantes. Como visita indispensable están la Basílica de Santa Luzia, construida en lo alto de una colina y desde donde podrás disfrutar de unas vistas únicas y la Catedral de Viana quese encuentra en pleno casco histórico, a sólo unos pasos de la Plaza de la República, construida en el siglo XV con fachada en piedra en estilo románico de transición, con influencias góticas y de otros templos religiosos gallegos. Si lo que buscas es un lugar para hospedarte, te recomiendo el Hotel Fábrica do Chocolate (Rua Gontim, 70-76), un moderno establecimiento con todas las comodidades -TV por cable, baño privado con bañera o ducha, secador de pelo, WIFI- con el chocolate como "ingrediente" único y en el que todo (decoración, habitaciones, gastronomía...) gira en torno a este manjar; además, podrás visitar su estupendo museo en el que conocerás de primera mano el origen del cacao. Muy cerca, nos encontramos con el encanto rural de Ponte da Lima. Situada en el corazón de la región de vino verde está considerada la villa más antigua de Portugal y se caracteriza por su arquitectura rústica y por su amplio valle bañado por el Rio Limia. Imprescindible visita son el Puente Romano, la Torre de Cadeia Velha, PaÇo do Marqués o El Chafariz.

Si eres de los que buscas una experiencia única, te sugiero una visita por el Valle del Douro. Paisajes únicos que no te dejarán indiferente dan lugar a unos vinos exclusivos. Los suelos, pobres en materia orgánica, gozan, en su composición, de la presencia del “esquisto” una pizarra que le aportará carácter mineral y ese aroma distinguido, entre otros elementos, hacen a estos Douros únicos, tanto blancos como tintos. El paisaje que va surcando, parece hecho por la huella dactilar de Dios, como dicen los de la región.La zona, está perfilada por vetustas terrazas con muros pétreos llamados “patamares”, las posteriores, las más modernas, forman un conjunto único en el planeta. En 2001, este fantástico y mayestático entorno fue declarado por la Unesco Patrimonio de la Humanidad, como paisaje cultural, evolutivo y vivo.

En fin, ya has visto que Portugal es más. Mucho más.

For those who usually follows me, Portugal is one of my favorite countries. Its proximity, its people, its cuisine, its beaches, history-laden cities ... make this country a must. Among these picturesque villages that I want to recommend from these lines, Vienna Do Castelo found. It is located on the right bank of the estuary of the Lima River and bathed by the Atlantic, we find this city full of charm and tradition and one of the most important ports of fishing for cod. It is clean, well structured and hospitable people streets are some of its most interesting features. As must visit are the Basilica of Santa Luzia, built on top of a hill from where you can enjoy a unique view and the Cathedral of Viana which is located in the historical center, just a few steps from the Republic Square, built in the fifteenth century stone facade Romanesque transition, with Gothic influences and other religious temples Galicians. Must visit are the Roman Bridge, the Tower of Cadeia Velha, PACO do Marqués o Chafariz.

If you are someone looking for a unique experience, I suggest a visit to the Douro Valley. Unique landscapes that will not leave indifferent give rise to some exclusive wines. Soils, poor in organic matter, enjoy, in its composition, the presence of "shale" which will give a blackboard mineral character and the distinguished aroma, among other things, make these, both white and red only Douros. The landscape is furrowing, it seems made for the fingerprint of God, as they say in the region. The area is shaped by dilapidated terraces with stone walls called "Patamares" later, the most modern form a single set on the planet. In 2001, this fantastic and majestic surroundings was declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site as a cultural, evolving and living landscape.

Well, you've seen that Portugal is more. Much more.
