Teatro: "Tres relatos" de García Márquez

Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi and the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in India have the pleasure to invite you to the theatre play:  "Three short stories" by García Márquez performed by Saanjha Sapnaa  which will take place on Friady 17th and Saturday 18th of October at 6:30 p.m. at  the Auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi.

Teatro: "Tres relatos de García Máquez"
Sinopsis: “Sólo vine a usar el teléfono” La historia sigue el viaje de María, cuyo coche se avería en una carretera solitaria rumbo a Barcelona. Ella trata de seguir como autoestopista pero nadia para por ella. Finalmente un destartalado bus lleno de mujeres se detiene y la acoje a bordo. Lo que le espera dentro es producto de las pesadillas en un asilo mental.
 “Ojos de perro azul”. Los amantes potenciales en esta historia no son adeptos de un sueño lúcido. Mientras ambos tienen conciencia en su sueño compartido, no son capaces de controlar su resultado. El hombre durmiente sufre amnesia instantánea al despertar, la mujer durmiente es conducida a una persecución demente del hombre que conoce en su sueño, mientras vaga por la ciudad murmurando “ojos de un perro azul…” Ella garabatea la frase, la hace graffiti, para componer su pasaje, esperando que un día el hombre durmiente la vea y recuerde, acercándolos a consumar su relación en el tiempo real.
 “Luz es como agua”. Dos niños oyen a sus padres hablar sobre su hogar y finalmente les piden por un pequeño bote, para poder ir remando por el río. El único problema es que viven en un apartamento urbano de una ciudad sin río. El elemento de realismo mágico de esta historia reside primariamente en la luz que se comporta como agua cuando los niños suben al barco en un viaje de aventuras dentro de su propio apartamento. (+)

Theatre: "Three stories by García Márquez"
Synopsis: “I just came to use the phone” The story follows the journey of Maria whose car breaks down on a lonely stretch of road on the way to Barcelona. She tries hitching a ride but no one stops for her. Finally a ramshackle bus full of women pulls up and takes her aboard. What follows is the stuff of nightmares in a mental asylum.
 “Eyes of a blue dog” The potential lovers in this story are not lucid dreaming adepts. While they both have consciousness in their shared dream, they cannot control the outcomes. The male sleeper suffers instant amnesia upon awakening, The female dreamer is driven to an insane pursuit of the man she meets in the dream, as she wanders through her city muttering, "eyes of a blue dog.." She scrawls the phrase, graffiti-like, to mark her passage, hoping that one day the male dreamer will see her mark and remember, bringing them closer to consummating their relationship in real time

“Light is like water” The two children of the family listen to their parents talk about their homeland and eventually ask for a small boat, so that they can go rowing on the river,the only problem is they live in a urban apartment in a city without river.The element of magical realism in this story is primarily the light that behaves as water when the children get the boat they set on an adventurous journey in their apartment.  (+)

García Márquez en el cine: "Tiempo de morir" 
Sinopsis: Juan Sáyago sale de la cárcel tras cumplir una condena de 18 años por haber matado en duelo a Raúl Moscote. Quiere recuperar el tiempo perdido y volver a vivir. Busca a su novia, que se cansó de esperarlo, y debe enfrentar el acoso implacable de los hijos de Moscote, criados en la obsesión de venganza. Es otra vez el tiempo de morir... o de matar. (+)

García Márquez & the Cinema: "Time to Die"
Synopsis: A man is released from prison, and after 18 years, returns to his "pueblo" (village). But in this village, time, in many ways, has stood still. The time served by Juan complied with the court's justice, but not with some villagers. There are some who still seek true justice.

Taller: "Tango"
El tango es un género musical tradicional de Argentina y Uruguay, nacido de la fusión cultural entre inmigrantes europeos (españoles e italianos, principalmente), descendientes de esclavos africanos, y nativos de la región del Río de la Plata. Musicalmente suele tener forma binaria (tema y estribillo) o ternaria (dos partes a las que se agrega un trío). Muchas de las letras de sus canciones están compuestas basándose en un argot local llamado lunfardo, letras que suelen expresar las tristezas, especialmente «en las cosas del amor», que sienten los hombres y las mujeres de pueblo, sin que ello sea obstáculo a la inclusión de otras, incluso humorísticas y políticas. Desde 2009 forma parte de la lista de Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad aprobado por UNESCO.

Workshop: "Tango"
Pequeña Tango is a traditional dance of Argentina and Uruguay, born of cultural fusion between European immigrants (Spanish and Italian, mainly), descendants of African slaves, and natives of the region of the Rio de la Plata. Musically is mainly binary (theme and chorus) or ternary (two parts to which is added a trio). Many of the lyrics of their songs are written on a local slang called lunfardo, and the lyrics often express sadness, especially regarding of the matter of love felt by men and women, without that hindering the treatment of other issues, even humorous and political. Since 2009, tango has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
- Dates: 18th , 19th , 25th , 26th of October, 2nd , 8th , 9th , 15th , 16th , 22th ,23rd , 29th , 30th of November and 7th, 13th and 14th of December.
- Time: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday)
- No previous knowledge of Spanish is needed. Lessons will be taught in English and Spanish
