As part of the Latino Music Festival 2011, The Endymion Trio from Spain gives their first performance in Chicago!  David Ballesteros (violin), David Barrera (cello) and Gustavo Diaz-Jerez (piano) are three internationally renowned Spanish musicians.

David Ballesteros is co-leader and director of the Social Projects Area of the chamber orchestra Bandart, led by Gordan Nikoliç, as well as member of the London Symphony Orchestra. He has been guest leader at the Brandenburg Sinfonia of London, San Sebastian Symphony, Barcelona Opera and Tenerife Symphony among other groups.

One of the foremost Spanish pianists of his generation, Gustavo Díaz-Jerez has performed as soloist with many of the world’s great orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, The Budapest Festival Orchestra, The Turin Symphony, The Northern Sinfonia, as well as the major Spanish orchestras (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Galicia, Nacional de Cataluña, Castilla y León, Sinfónica de Madrid and others).

David Barrera has won several prizes at the Jugend Musiziert competition: in 1995 he was awarded the first prize in the category of solo instrument and in 1997 the third prize in chamber music. In 2007, he won the second prize at the Gradus ad Parnassum competition in Austria, in the category of piano trio.  He has made recordings for ORF (Austrian Broadcasting) and TV channels Canal (á) and Film & Arts. In 2006 he recorded as a soloist Fantasía-concierto written by the composer Carlos González for the label Piccolo. He has collaborated on numerous occasions with various orchestras including the Musik Theater Schönbrunn in Vienna, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and Camerata Clásica de Canarias.

This is a rare opportunity to hear the best chamber music from Spain today. Both classical and contemporary repertoire will be performed.
