Many thanks to all of you who supported the ELC Las Rozas Road to Ireland fundraiser tournament in June of this year. We are delighted to let you know that, thanks to your support and the hard work of the ELC Las Rozas team, their Special Skills Football Team travelled to Dublin in October to take part in a Special Olympics Football Blitz tournament, hosted by Glasnevin Football Club. Their visit to Ireland was part of a wider exchange programme between ELC Las Rozas and Glasnevin FC, which also saw the Glasnevin Under 11s team come to Madrid in July, and is helping to build stronger ties between Spain and Ireland through the medium of sport. The Embassy had the pleasure of hosting a reception for the Special Skills team and their family and supporters, to wish them luck before they set off for Ireland, and we hear that they did Madrid proud with their performance both on and off the field! Special thanks also goes to our friends at Dublin Bus, who sponsored the team’s transport while in Dublin.
