The Exhibition covers the tumultuous events of the Spanish Civil War, Franco dictatorship, the suffering that followed and the impact on the population and the economy. Population changes, the exodus of Republicans and the intelligentsia, emigration of the 1950s and 1960s followed by immigration from South America and Africa from the 1980s are conveyed.
Paintings depict a rapidly changing country with its historic animosities and privileges, traditions and changes, as it experiences success and failure along the path to becoming a modern nation in the European Union today.
