  • How they present and manage their work is unconventional, too: their two albums to date, Un Dia en el Mundo (2008) and Mapas (2011) were both released by Pequeño Salto Mortal, a label they created to bypass the traditional channels of the recording industry.
  • Vetusta Morla is an emotional adventure.  Their live shows are forceful and intense, their lyrics - and the images they conjure - are abstract and indirect.  Their path has led them to top the charts and to sweep Spanish awards.  They play sold-out tours in Spain, Mexico and Argentina.  This is a rare opportunity to hear this ground-breaking Spanish band live in Chicago in the intimate downtown auditorium at the Instituto Cervantes.

    MUJERES

Four gentlemen from Barcelona met at university and had the brilliant idea to form a band. The band is known for a mix of punk, garage, rock & roll and maybe even a little blues and rockabilly. It is fast, exhilarating and fun. Within a year of releasing their self- titled debut they had a full touring schedule that took them all over the world.  Mujeres is pure fun, for the band and the audience. You don't even have to know the songs to sing and jump along. They will present their brand new album 'Soft Gems' (Sones, 2012).

    ZA!

A band from Barcelona composed by 2 people and 7 instruments (drums, guitar, keyboard, voice, trumpet, kalimba, sampler). Their music combines african beats, noise, thick distortions, vocal loops, free jazz, balinese polyryhtms, math rock and Dadaism, the result is unique each night.  They have played with free jazz artists Peter Brötzmann and Paal Nilssen Love as well as Zu and Delorean.
    FURGUSON
Furguson hail from Gurb (Barcelona). Their first LP, "My Friends Are My Culture", was the second record ever released by La Castanya. They have opened for Oxford Collapse and Beach House in Barcelona.  They have also shared the bill with Nueva Vulcano and Pony Bravo at the prestigious Sant Feliu Fest and took part in the Primavera Sound Festival.  Ferguson have a rare knack for combining melody and post-punk elements. You might locate their unique sound somewhere inbetween HEALTH, Delorean and The Rapture.
