En el sureste de Costa de Marfil algunas comunidades continúan manteniendo contacto con los espíritus, a través de los komián o sacerdotes animistas que en estado de trance son poseídos por los genios del bosque y del agua.
Yëo Douley, un hombre de Abiyán, emprende un viaje que le llevará ante la tumba de su menor animista para una liberación ritual. En su largo camino asistirá a los rituales de iniciación de tres elegidos por los espíritus del bosque y a la entronización de uno de ellos como nuevo gran komián.
Jordi Esteva, 1951, es fotógrafo, periodista, traductor y director de cine. Espíritu inquieto y viajero, ha recorrido incansable las costas africanas, los oasis egipcios y las medinas árabes, dejando testimonio de sus experiencias en obras de diverso formato y género.
En 1999 publicó Viaje al país de las almas, para tras dos meses de trabajo en Costa de Marfil finalizar el rodaje Retorno al país de las almas.
In southeastern Ivory Coast some communities continue maintaining contact with the spirits through the koimán or animistic priests who being in trance states are owned by the geniuses of the forest and water.
Yëo Douley, a man in Abidyán, starts a journey that will take him to the grave of his animistic mentor for a release ritual. In his long journey he will attend the initiation rituals of three chosen by the spirits of the forest and to the enthronement of one of them as big komián.
Jordi Esteva, 1951, is a photographer, journalist, translator and filmmaker. With a restless and traveler spirit, has tirelessly traveled the African coast, the Egyptian oases and the Arab medinas, leaving evidence of his experience in works of different format and genre.
In 1999 he published Journey to the land of souls, for after two months of work in Ivory Coast finishing shooting Return to the country of souls.
