Book launch of the Spanish drawings in the Courtauld Gallery.  The exhibition explores the rich, intriguing and varied territory of Spanish drawings. The Courtauld Gallery holds one of the most important collections of Spanish drawings outside Spain, totaling approximately 100 works ranging from the 16th to the 20th centuries.

Thursday 26th January - THE JOURNEY OF WORDS: In Conversation with Rosa Montero

This is the thought-provoking title for the conversation between writer and journalist Rosa Montero and María José Blanco, lecturer in Spanish literature at King's College. A unique opportunity to learn more about the creative process of one of the most revered Spanish writers - with all its personal associations and its relationship with the time and space in which it occurs.

Rosa Montero was born in Madrid and studied journalism and psychology. Since the end of 1976 she has worked exclusively for the daily newspaper El País, for which she was chief editor of the Sunday supplement from 1980 to 1981. In 1978 Montero won the "Manuel del Arco" Interview Prize, in 1980 the National Journalism Prize for literary features and articles, and in 2005 the Madrid Press Association Prize for her professional work.

She has published the following novels: Crónica del desamor (1979), La función Delta (1981), Te trataré como a una reina (1983), Amado Amo (1988), Temblor (1990), Bella y Oscura (1993), La hija del caníbal ('Primavera de Novela' Prize in 1997),  El corazón del Tártaro (2001), La Loca de la casa (2003) ('Qué Leer' Prize 2004 for the best book of the year, 'Grinzane Cavour' Prize for the best foreign book published in Italy in 2005, and Premio 'Roman Primeur' Prize 2006 France);  Historia del rey transparente (2005) ('Qué Leer' Prize 2005 for the best book of the year, and 'Mandarache' Prize 2007); Instrucciones para salvar el mundo (2008) and Lágrimas en la lluvia (2011).

She has also published a book of short stories Amantes y Enemigos (Círculo de Críticos de Chile Prize 1999), and two biographical essays,Historias de mujeres and Pasiones, as well as children's stories and collections of interviews and articles. Her work is translated into more than twenty languages and she is Doctora Honoris Causa at the Universidad of Puerto Rico.
