Jaime Luis Huenún Villa was born in Valdivia, Chile, in 1967. He has had several poetry collections published: Ceremonias , Puerto Trakl, Port Trakl, Reducciones.
He has published several anthologies on contemporary Mapuche poetry and poetry for children. He is also co-author of the compilations of bilingual Mapuche stories El Pozo Negro and Viaje a la Memoria Ancestral. In 1999 he won first prize in the national poetry competition El joven Neruda, organised by the Municipality of Temuco. In 2003 he was given the national Pablo Neruda poetry prize. He received a grant in 2005 from the Simon Guggenheim Foundation in New York.
